Swimming Swimming......

Finn had his first taste of swimming yesterday. He didn't much like the cold water, but once he moved into the warm baby pool he started to relax....a bit. He hasn't quite figured out kicking yet - when he is doing a back float his two feet stick straight up out of the water.

I'm 6 months old

I am practicing my royal wave….I rotate my wrists and wave my hand but haven’t quite worked up to waving at people (Daddy is sure I waved at the cat once).

My two bottom teeth are poking through my gums. You can’t really see them yet – just feel them with your finger ….if I let you….

I had my first taste of rice cereal…and hated it....Mummy, Daddy and I are working on my tastebuds. I seem to be fixated on doing it all myself…too bad I lack the dexterity to get much in my mouth.

I love sitting in my inner tube, kicking my feet and arching my back over the edge so I can view the world upside down.

I went to a new pediatician (who Mummy doesn’t really like - he suggested Mummy should have been feeding me rice cereal from 2 months old – very old school). I weigh 20 lbs 6 oz and am 27 ¼ inches long. The doctor measured my head circumference at 18 inches and then checked my chest measurement (17.5 inches) because he thought my head looked abnormally large…

Visit to the audiologist

They have a program here in Ontario where all infants are screened for possible hearing loss- unfortunately Finn has had 2 tests that show unusual results so he has had to be retested. It’s a bit stressful as the tests require that the infant be asleep. Finn is not the easiest to put down to nap – so we have to hold our breath each time he is tested. This last time he did fall asleep but since he has a cold the test results were inconclusive. So we will be traveling back to Kitchener (no one in Guelph does the testing) next month for more testing. We just hope that all goes well and he doesn’t need a hearing aid.

Cabby from Uganda

What a tasty looking giraffe!

Finn explains the ins and outs of the exersaucer to Cabby

Fresh from a night of ringing in the New Year in Toronto, Cabby hopped on a greyhound bus on New Year’s Day to visit us in Guelph. She came back to North America to celebrate Nancy’s wedding and visit with her family over Christmas. She brought some great presents from Uganda – Finn loves his giraffe – and hung out with us party animals for a few days.
