Muster!

Helping Daddy spray the big fire hose.

Driving a vintage fire truck.

Ding, ding, ding- you can ring my bell.......dingalingaling.

Victoria Day weekend we took Finn to a young boy's nirvana......an emergency services muster ( A gathering, especially of troops, for service, inspection, review, or roll call). Fire trucks, police cars, ambulances. What more could you ask for? A beautiful sunny day, a picnic lunch and to top it all off ---a parade with vintage fire trucks!

more muster

Finn alternated between waving and gasping excitedly at all the vintage fire trucks. Here he is practicing his royal wave.

Little Man

All Finn is missing is his John Deere hat. Andrew even made the effort to "comb" Finn's "hair".

Our backyard reno weekend happened to coincide with Mother's Day. Finn presented me and Nana with books, cards, cuddles and kisses.

Backyard redo

When originally looking at our house the backyard was rather...um....unfinished? After pregnancy, birth and life excuses we finally decided that now was the time to get to work. We enlisted the aid of the ever helpful Burt Srs. and set to work to put some order into our dandelion jungle. Although things are still not quite done (we still have a pile of dirt in our driveway that is being slowly moved down to a raised planter) we have taken a major step forward.

Finn loved watching Papa with the rototiller and still talks about it.

What's with the Pomelo hats?

Fun with tropical fruit. I am not sure where this originated....the need to make hats with pomelo and put them on kids' heads. All I know is that Andrew needed to do it.

Gardening in the rain

We have lots to do in the garden so we have been spending almost every afternoon working there. Finn has been great at keeping himself occupied while Mummy works. Finny's plum tree is doing well and has lots of cute white flowers on it...hoping for some fruit this year!

Opening birthday presents

Finn is an excellent present opener. So excellent in fact he won't allow anyone to open a present without his help.

Finn chose this book for Daddy because Daddy like Doggies - the fact that it has moving parts and is written for toddlers is just an added bonus.....

Yummy carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Finn really liked this cake - I felt that the grated carrot made the cake almost healthy......

Daddy's all you can eat birthday celebration

Finn eating squid?????

The birthday boy trying to finish everything we ordered (you have to pay full price for any items you order and don't eat).
Yummy tofu, tempura and sushi. Not to mention Finn's favourite - rice!!

Planting peas and lettuce

Warm weather and an early start to gardening this year. Have major plans to tidy up the yard. This year we may have finally got the peas in early enough. Good thing...peas are one of the only vegetables Finn enjoys.

Visit with Nancy, Attila and Luther

Luther kindly hosted a brunch for Andrew, Finn and I. He was a most cordial host, sharing his toys and drool with everyone!

Toronto Zoo

A rainy visit with the Rhinos and other animals at the Toronto zoo.

Finn enjoyed the monkeys the best. The orangutans were pretty neat too.

Visit to Toronto

During one of the yuckiest weekends in April we met up with Tom (who flew up from NY) in Toronto for a family reunion. Finn's first stay in a hotel and he did really well. He loved the TV and flushing the toilet over and over again.

We escaped the rain with a trip to the ROM. Favourite bits were trying on costumes and the fox den (which you can crawl through- Finn had a distinct advantage over us old-folks).

The real deal!
